Mexico Patterns We Plan Around
Two things shape almost every Mexico charter: lead time and elevation. Landing and customs permits are applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and the timeline is sometimes set by the local airport authorities. None of that is a reason to worry, but all of it is a reason to book earlier than you would for a domestic US trip. Toluca, the main Mexico City private jet gateway, sits at 8,460 feet, and on a warm afternoon that changes what an aircraft can lift.
On an international leg out of Mexico, finding the aircraft is usually the easy part. Customs and immigration hours at the departure field, and the operator’s own permits, set the earliest realistic departure.
