Mexico Patterns We Plan Around
Two things shape almost every Mexico charter: lead time and elevation. Landing and customs permits are applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and the timeline is sometimes set by the local airport authorities. None of that is a reason to worry, but all of it is a reason to book earlier than you would for a domestic US trip. Toluca, the main Mexico City private jet gateway, sits at 8,460 feet, and on a warm afternoon that changes what an aircraft can lift.
If any leg of the itinerary touches Toluca or Felipe Angeles, elevation drives the aircraft choice more than distance does. Both sit above 7,300 feet, and a midsize jet leaving either at full payload on a warm afternoon may need a fuel stop that the same aircraft would not need at sea level.
