Helicopters

Helicopters solve the last leg of a Mexico trip rather than the long one. Four to twelve seats, and the ability to land where there is no runway at all, which is what makes them useful across the resort corridors and for aerial survey work.

Typical Aircraft

The Bell line covers the Jet Ranger, Long Ranger and the Bell 407. The Agusta 109 is the fastest and most comfortable of the group, the Sikorsky S-76 the largest and the usual choice for offshore and executive work, and the Eurocopter rounds out the category.

When Helicopters Fit the Mexico Trip

Resort and coastal transfers, aerial photography and survey work, and offshore energy support are the regular uses. A helicopter is most often booked alongside a fixed-wing leg rather than instead of one, meeting the jet at Los Cabos, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta and covering the final stretch.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Across the 6 helicopters listed on this page, industry hourly rates run $1,200 to $5,000 per hour as of 7/2026. Each aircraft page carries its own rate. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

Mexico Patterns We Plan Around

Two things shape almost every Mexico charter: lead time and elevation. Landing and customs permits are applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and the timeline is sometimes set by the local airport authorities. None of that is a reason to worry, but all of it is a reason to book earlier than you would for a domestic US trip. Toluca, the main Mexico City private jet gateway, sits at 8,460 feet, and on a warm afternoon that changes what an aircraft can lift.

Landing sites are the part to settle first. A helicopter can physically land in a great many places, but permission, the site owner’s agreement and the operator’s own approvals are separate questions from capability, and they take longer to arrange than the aircraft does.

The hourly rates provided are estimates based on 2026 market data and are for informational purposes only. These figures are subject to change and do not constitute a final offer. Final pricing is dynamic and depends on real-time factors including, but not limited to, specific itinerary requirements, aircraft positioning (“ferry” fees), fuel price volatility, and current market availability. These estimates exclude all applicable taxes, de-icing, landing and handling fees, special event fees, international surcharges, overnight crew expenses, and premium catering.
