Typical Aircraft
The Cessna Citation line runs deepest here, from the older Citation II through the Bravo, CJ2, CJ3, CJ4, Citation V, Ultra and Encore. The Learjet 31 and 35 bring speed, with the 35 carrying the longest legs in the group. The Hawker 400XP and Beechjet 400A seat eight, the Premier 1A has the widest cabin of the group, and the Falcon 10 is the fast, small-cabin outlier.
When Light Jets Fit the Mexico Trip
Miami to Cancun at around 750 miles and Houston to Cancun at about 900 miles are both comfortable light jet trips, as is Los Angeles to Los Cabos at roughly 900 miles. Guadalajara at 5,016 feet is a moderate-elevation field, so a light jet leaving there at full payload gets a performance check before we quote it.

Mexico Patterns We Plan Around
Two things shape almost every Mexico charter: lead time and elevation. Landing and customs permits are applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and the timeline is sometimes set by the local airport authorities. None of that is a reason to worry, but all of it is a reason to book earlier than you would for a domestic US trip. Toluca, the main Mexico City private jet gateway, sits at 8,460 feet, and on a warm afternoon that changes what an aircraft can lift.
Cancun and Los Cabos both get tight on parking rather than on aircraft. Over the Christmas and New Year window and again at spring break, hangar and ramp space is the constraint that decides the trip, and two to three weeks of notice before a holiday arrival is realistic rather than cautious.
