Why the Learjet 35 Fits Mexico

Two thousand one hundred and twenty-five nautical miles is the number that sets the Learjet 35 apart in the Mexico light-jet market. New York to Cancun is roughly 1,600 nautical miles, and New York to Mexico City via Toluca is approximately 2,100, which puts the Learjet 35 at the edge of that trip with a light load. From the US Midwest and South, every primary Mexico destination is inside the envelope with margin.

The Monterrey corridor is where the Learjet 35 sees the most Mexico volume: Houston at roughly 430 nautical miles, Dallas at around 580, San Antonio inside 400. On those short legs the speed advantage over a Citation Bravo or a Citation II is modest, and the aircraft is often booked on range or reputation rather than block time.

The cabin is the honest weakness. Narrow, low, and loud compared to current standards, with baggage split between nose and tail. For a two-person executive run the design is efficient and purposeful. For six passengers on a two-and-a-half-hour Mexico leisure leg it is a different experience from a Citation Encore or a Phenom 300, and we say so at quote stage.
