Super Light Jets

Super light jets sit between the light and midsize categories and are a useful answer on Mexico routes where a light jet is short on range and a midsize is more cabin than the trip needs. Six to eight seats with noticeably better legs.

Typical Aircraft

The Embraer Phenom 300 is the most requested aircraft in this category. The Learjet 45, 45XR and Learjet 75 bring the speed the Learjet line is known for, the Pilatus PC-24 adds short-field capability unusual for a jet, and the Westwind I and Westwind II are the older, lower-cost end of the group.

When Super Light Jets Fit the Mexico Trip

This is a strong category for Dallas to Los Cabos at roughly 1,300 miles and Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta at about 1,100 miles, both of which stretch a light jet. The PC-24 is worth asking about when the destination runway is short, though Mexico’s main leisure fields are long: Cancun runs 11,483 feet and Tulum 12,139 feet.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Across the 6 super light jets listed on this page, industry hourly rates run $3,500 to $5,800 per hour as of 7/2026. Each aircraft page carries its own rate. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

Mexico Patterns We Plan Around

Two things shape almost every Mexico charter: lead time and elevation. Landing and customs permits are applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and the timeline is sometimes set by the local airport authorities. None of that is a reason to worry, but all of it is a reason to book earlier than you would for a domestic US trip. Toluca, the main Mexico City private jet gateway, sits at 8,460 feet, and on a warm afternoon that changes what an aircraft can lift.

Range figures in this category are quoted at low weights. Eight passengers and full bags on a 1,300-mile leg is a different calculation from four passengers, and on Pacific coast routes the winds decide whether the leg is nonstop on the day.
