The Learjet 45 is Bombardier’s full-size super light jet, and in the Mexico market it combines Learjet speed with a cabin that can take seven to nine passengers across the most active US-to-Mexico corridors. It is a common answer on the Texas-to-Monterrey and Florida-to-Cancun sectors where the group is larger than most light jets comfortably fit.
Bombardier built the Learjet 45 with Honeywell TFE731-20 engines, a stand-up flat-floor cabin and the handling inherited from the Learjet line. The 45XR variant added higher thrust for improved hot-and-high performance. Seven to nine seats, 464 knots and 1,968 nautical miles of range.

Why the Learjet 45 Fits Mexico
Nine seats at 464 knots for roughly 2,000 nautical miles is the combination that makes the Learjet 45 a genuine option for medium-size Mexico groups. A corporate team of eight flying into Monterrey from Dallas, or a family of eight flying into Cancun from Miami, both fit without a second aircraft conversation. The Learjet 35 carries fewer people at the same speed; the Phenom 300 carries similar passengers at slightly lower speed.
The 45XR variant’s extra thrust improves departure performance at Toluca, the Mexico City-area gateway at 8,460 feet of elevation. When the aircraft on offer is identified as a 45XR versus a standard 45, that difference is worth noting for any Mexico City routing where Toluca will be the departure point. We confirm which variant is on the quote and request actual performance data from the operator.
Monterrey’s General Mariano Escobedo International Airport sits at 1,280 feet of elevation, so density altitude is not a concern there. The airport has a dedicated GA terminal with VIP and crew lounges and operates as an Airport of Entry. AOPA notes that permit approval at Monterrey can require up to one week, so planning the AIU permit well ahead is worth raising early in the booking.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
