The Westwind II is the stretched and more capable successor to the Westwind I, built by Israeli Aircraft Industries with greater range and refined systems. For Mexico charter it is the version of the Westwind that reaches Los Cabos from Los Angeles or the East Coast without a stop, and the cabin still seats seven to ten.
Israeli Aircraft Industries developed the Westwind II from the Westwind I with improved Garrett TFE731 engines, a revised wing and upgraded avionics. Seven to ten seats, 424 knots and 2,560 nautical miles of range. Every Westwind II we arrange flies with an operator certificated under FAR Part 135, the FAA rules for on-demand, for-hire charter.

Why the Westwind II Fits Mexico
Two thousand five hundred and sixty nautical miles is the Westwind II’s defining number in the Mexico market. It is the longest range of any super light or light jet on this site, exceeding even the Learjet 35 by several hundred nautical miles. From New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, every primary Mexico destination is a single leg with margin to spare.
The extra range changes the Mexico map for East Coast and West Coast clients. Los Angeles to Los Cabos at roughly 900 nautical miles, New York to Cancun at approximately 1,600, and New York to Mexico City via Toluca near 2,100 are all inside the Westwind II’s envelope. Mexico City is where the aircraft’s range advantage over the rest of this category is most visible.
Ten seats is the same as the Westwind I, and the aircraft’s speed at 424 knots is a modest improvement over its predecessor but still slower than a Learjet 45 or Phenom 300 on the same routing. The combination of range, cabin capacity, and rate is the argument for the Westwind II, and it is a legitimate one for the right Mexico trip.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Industry hourly rates for the Westwind II run $3,500 to $4,500 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
The Westwind II quotes at the lower end of the Mexico super light category despite having the longest range in the class, which on a coast-to-Mexico leg makes the per-nautical-mile cost hard to beat.
