Gulfstream G500

The Gulfstream G500 is the shorter-range half of Gulfstream’s current clean-sheet pair, covering 5,300 nautical miles with the Symmetry flight deck and 13 to 19 passengers. For Mexico charter, it handles every US-to-Mexico corridor and the shorter Mexico international routes without the rate of the longer-range Gulfstream models.

Gulfstream certified the G500 in July 2018 alongside the G600, sharing the Symmetry flight deck with active control sidesticks and Pratt and Whitney Canada PW814GA engines. The cabin seats 13 in a typical configuration, up to 19 at maximum density, with large oval windows and a lower cabin altitude than the G550 generation. Full specifications for the Gulfstream G500 are published by Gulfstream Aerospace.

Why the Gulfstream G500 Fits Mexico

Mexico City (Toluca) to New York at roughly 2,200 nautical miles is inside the G500’s range with margin. Toluca’s 8,460-foot elevation requires hot-and-high performance planning on every trip, and the G500’s modern aerodynamics give it reasonable departure margins in the Mexico City environment compared to older-generation aircraft.

All major Mexico leisure routes sit well inside 5,300 nautical miles: Miami to Cancun under 800 nautical miles, Los Angeles to Los Cabos about 900 nautical miles, New York to Cancun roughly 1,600 nautical miles. The cabin altitude on this generation is lower than older Gulfstreams, and the large oval windows are a noticeable difference in cabin feel.

The G500 does not reach Mexico City to London nonstop. Clients who need that route should look at the G600 or G650. For the range of Mexico domestic and US international demand, 5,300 nautical miles covers the full pattern without range becoming a constraint.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Gulfstream G500 run $11,500 to $14,500 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

At $11,500 to $14,500 per hour, the G500 prices in the same band as the Global 5500 and Gulfstream G600, and on Mexico routes inside 5,300 nautical miles the three are worth pricing side by side.
