The Embraer Legacy 450 brings fly-by-wire controls and a flat-floor stand-up cabin to the Mexico midsize market with the longest range in the category. At 2,904 nautical miles it reaches Mexico from anywhere in the continental United States without a stop, and the cabin is the widest of any aircraft in this class.
Embraer built the Legacy 450 as a shortened Legacy 500, with full fly-by-wire flight controls, Honeywell HTF7500E engines and a six-foot flat-floor cabin. Seven to nine seats, 462 knots and 2,904 nautical miles of range. It was later rebranded the Praetor 500.

Why the Embraer Legacy 450 Fits Mexico
Nearly 2,900 nautical miles is the number that separates the Legacy 450 from the rest of the Mexico midsize category. New York to Mexico City via Toluca is approximately 2,100 nautical miles, and New York to Los Cabos is around 2,700. Both are single-leg trips in a Legacy 450 where a Hawker 850XP or a Citation XLS would need a stop or a very light load. For East Coast clients flying into Mexico’s Pacific resort coast, that distinction is worth more than the rate premium.
Toluca’s 8,460-foot elevation requires hot-and-high performance planning from any midsize jet. The Legacy 450’s Honeywell engines and fly-by-wire controls give operators precise performance management on Toluca departures, and the type is well documented in operator performance charts for that airport. We still request actual data for the specific date and payload.
Fly-by-wire handling at this size is unusual and produces a notably smoother ride in turbulence, which on the Mexico City to Cancun domestic sector during tropical weather season, or on a winter transcontinental leg from the US Northeast, is a passenger benefit that goes beyond the specification sheet.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Industry hourly rates for the Embraer Legacy 450 run $5,000 to $6,500 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
The Legacy 450 quotes at the top of the Mexico midsize band, and on any New York-to-Mexico or West Coast-to-Mexico routing the fuel stop it avoids typically justifies the premium over shorter-legged midsize jets.
